Hi! My name is Laura Mann and I was born and raised in St. Louis. I have lived in South County almost my entire life. I have always felt compelled to create since I was small. As a young teenager in the 90s, I started to paint in oils and acrylics, drawing with colored pencils, creating with clay and making jewelry. But painting is my love. The way the paint hits and spreads on a blank canvas is magical. So many possibilities can develop, anticipating the outcome, reaching my vision. I recently discovered paint pouring. It was almost like a door to another dimension of art creation opened up for me so of course, I dove right into it!
I am spiritually inspired. I don’t believe that I am painting alone. My hands and mind’s eye are assisted by something that is not my own and I am compelled to create it to show the world. Sometimes I feel inspired from within but I don’t know where it’s coming from. Sometimes I can see on the canvas what I’m going to paint before I even put the brush to it. Most of my paintings are inspired by nature, God’s creations, and from emotions I get from music.
